This coating does not provide complete protection against corrosion, however, because it is only a partial barrier to water in the presence of a strong alkaline solution.
In order to protect against contamination, the collection and transport tubes should be certified as metal-free. If contamination concerns exist, confirm specimens with a second sample collected in a certified metal-free tube.
